Cake Decoration Tips (non-experts and pro's help appreciated!)?
All I want is a suggestion on what to replace the hearts with on this cake. The hearts are nice, but meant for a wedding cake, not a birthday party cake.

Other then color changes, any tips on changes I might want to make are appreciated (i haven't made the cake yet)
depends on what age the cake is for. If its an adult you could use lattice work in stead of the diamonds on the bottom cake. If its for a your adult or child find come Candy's that could be placed on the side of the cake. Skittles ,M&M's ,smarties, etc. get the idea. That could work even for an adult cake using the candies frorm back in there day. There are a lot that are available now.
Or perhaps you could make repelcias out of fondant
