How come the lower belts have tape stripes and the black belts get thier stripes embroidered?
what i mean is in martial arts (tkd for example), how come when you graduate from a belt stripe test in the lower ranking belts you get a piece of tape but when you graduate from a belt stripe test in the dan levels you get a stripe embroidered on your belt. ive called the local embroidery place and they said it was very odd for someone to get a colored stripe embroidered on their belt but it is very common the get a gold stripe or w/e embroidered on a black belt? it costs next to nothing to get a stripe embroidered but would i get in trouble if i got a colored belt embroidered with a stripe instead of having a dinky piece of tape that can fall off? is this logical or no...im just starting tkd in a bit but i haent got around to asking my potential teacher yet. thanks
